Origins of Two Hoots Giftware
Art Therapy
Two Hoots Giftware was created in 2017, shortly after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and unexpected journey with no family history to guide me.
As I began rehabilitation and treatment, I found myself searching for something more. Something to keep my mind engaged, my identity intact, and my spirit strong - even on the days when my body couldn’t keep up.
In the quiet spaces between physiotherapy sessions and managing fatigue, I picked up a paintbrush. What began as a therapeutic exercise to improve focus, co-ordination, and fine motor skills quickly became something more - something that I loved.
Glass artistry offered me a way to express myself creatively while also reconnecting with the world around me. Each piece became a small triumph - a blend of patience, precision, and passion.
Today, creating art is not just a form of therapy - its a way of life.
Why “Two Hoots”?
Two Hoots Giftware was named after a pair of Tawny Frogmouths that returned to nest annually in the ironbark tree on my property.
I take great joy in watching them raise their young and listening to their gentle, distinctive calls - a comforting presence through the seasons.
No matter what challenges nature throws their way, they return, year after year - a quiet symbol of resilience, loyalty, and grace.
Their enduring spirit felt like the perfect namesake for my work and the journey behind it.
